Now Here’s a Big Tennis Live Betting Shocker!

Roger Federer vs Alexander Zverev (3-6, 4-6)

Who would have thought that Roger Federer would lose in a game he’s expected to dominate?

There’s no doubt that Alexander Zverev was capable of pulling this kind of online betting upset, but it was certainly a shocker that the Swiss Maestro lost in straight sets in a live betting match many predicted to go the distance.

Federer rarely drops a set – he won Wimbledon without conceding and managed to just lose one in this Rogers Cup up to the semifinal – but it was different on Monday as he lost not one but two and didn’t even win a single set.

Confident and composed after his dramatic win over Canadian sensation Denis Shapovalov, Zverev started aggressively and took the initiative right from the opening frame.  He used his sharp groundstrokes to prevent Federer from taking control early and it paid dividends as he got the break for a 3-1 lead before closing the first set.

The FedExpress looked to bounce back come the second, but he eventually lost his groove after Zverev bombarded him with consecutive service aces and threw him out of his game. The 20-year-old German then never looked back and served out the match against the error-prone Federer.

It was indeed an uncharacteristic performance from Federer who won just 34 service points out of 53, a day after he lost just nine service points in the semifinals.

Not to mention that he ended with only two service aces.

Zverev, on the other hand, played fantastic tennis and deserved the victory. He hit six aces and was particularly efficient, winning a total of 44 service points out of 59.

“This one against Roger is something so special for me because he was always a great idol growing up for me,” Zverev, the youngest Rogers Cup finalist since Novak Djokovic in 2007, said during his trophy presentation.

“The greatest player of all time, beating him in a final, not just any final but in the final of a Masters 1000, is amazing.”

With the victory, Zverev not only won his fifth title of 2017 but also avenged his loss to Federer in the Halle Open last June. He also became the third man to beat Rog this year and levelled their career head-to-head at two wins each.

Federer, meanwhile, lost the chance to equal Ivan Lendl’s second-place record of 94 career title wins.
