Inter Milan will try to capture their third Serie A title in four years this upcoming 2026-27 campaign. With that in mind, Cristian Chivu’s side is busier than usual this summer transfer window in an attempt to stay on top of the SBOTOP Serie A 2026 odds.
Napoli, AS Roma, AC Milan, Juventus, and Atalanta finished below Inter Milan last term, but these five calcios did their best and are well-positioned to challenge Inter Milan for the Scudetto in 2026-27.
Napoli
After narrowly winning the Scudetto in 2024-25, Napoli fell 11 points behind Inter Milan in the standings last season, and Antonio Conte resigned as head coach, with Max Allegri taking over.
Fortunately for Allegri, he’ll inherit a strong squad from Conte. He still has the likes of Rasmus Hojlund, Romelu Lukaku, Alisson Santos, Matteo Politano, and David Neres in the final third, Kevin De Bruyne, Scott McTominay, Stanislav Lobotka, and Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa, and Billy Gilmour in the middle, Alessandro Buongiorno, Sam Beukema, Leonardo Spinazzola, Giovanni Di Lorenzo, and Amir Rrahmani at the back, and Alex Meret and Vanja Milinkovic-Savic sharing duties between the sticks.
This summer, the Partenopei have been busy, letting go of some of their deadwood while signing their successful loanees to permanent deals, namely Milinkovic-Savic, Santos, and Hojlund, and they also added another bright young talent in Mattia Esposito.
Allegri will have a chip on his shoulder this upcoming season, following his unceremonious exit from AC Milan.
AC Milan
Speaking of AC Milan, the Rossoneri replaced Max Allegri with Ruben Amorim, who’s ready to coach again after he wore out his welcome at Manchester United. Like Allegri, Amorim will enter the 2026-27 campaign with a huge chip on his shoulder.
Fortunately for Amorim, he’ll have a lot to work with, as AC Milan are among the most productive teams this offseason. Some of their notable moves include parting ways with Lorenzo Colombo, Tommaso Pobega, Alex Jimenez, and Alvaro Morata, while acquiring Mario Gila, Goncalo Ramos, and Sankhoun Diawara.
As things stand, AC Milan have a robust core of Mike Maignan, Strahinja Pavlovic, Fikayo Tomori, Matteo Gabbia, Pervis Estupinan, and Davide Bartesaghi at the back, Adrien Rabiot, Luka Modric, Samuele Ricci, Youssouf Fofana, Ardon Jashari, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, and Alexis Saelemaekers in the middle, and Christian Pulisic, Santiago Gimenez, Christopher Nkunku, Niclas Fullkrug, and Rafael Leao in the final third. If they click under Amorim, don’t be surprised if the Rossoneri will be regulars in the Serie A 2026 highlights reel.
Juventus
Juventus also failed to secure Champions League football last term, so they’re trying to make amends by strengthening their roster this summer transfer window. The Bianconeri swooped up Zeki Celik on a free transfer while adding Jeff Ekhator, Jeremie Boga, Randal Kolo Muani, and Kerim Alajbegovic. In return, they parted ways with Filip Kostic, Dusan Vlahovic, and Tim Weah while loaning Lois Openda to Lyon.
The additions will join a core comprised of Michele Di Gregorio, Lloyd Kelly, Andrea Cambiaso, Pierre Kalulu, Federico Gatti, Gleison Bremer, Juan Cabal, Weston McKennie, Manuel Locatelli, Khephren Thuram, Teun Koopmeiners, Fabio Miretti, Kenan Yildiz, Jonathan David, Nico Gonzalez, Francisco Conceicao, Edon Zhegrova, and Arek Milik.
Atalanta
Atalanta also changed coaches this summer, bringing in Mauricio Sarri to replace Raffaele Palladino, and fans in Bergamo are probably excited to see some “Sarri-ball” next season. After all, Sarri has experience of winning the biggest prizes, having won the Scudetto with Juventus in 2019-20 and the Europa League with Chelsea the year before.
What La Dea did this summer was keep their core intact, signing Ederson to a new extension while adding Gianluca Gaetano from Cagliari and selling Marco Palestra and Marco Brescianini.
Charles De Ketelaere boosted his stock during the World Cup, and he’ll link up with Nikola Krstovic and Gianluca Scamacca in the final third. Atalanta also have one of the best goalkeepers in the league in Marco Carnesecchi, with Giorgio Scalvini, Isak Hien, Sead Kolasinac, Berat Djimsiti, and Odilon Kossounou providing cover.
AS Roma
Gian Piero Gasperini’s first full season at Stadio Olimpico saw AS Roma finish third in the Italian top-flight standings, raising eyebrows while giving their fans something to look forward to this upcoming season. This summer, the Giallorossi kept their top scorer Donyell Malen, while acquiring Daniele Ghilardi and Santiago Castro from Hellas Verona and Bologna, respectively.
With a front three of Matias Soule, Donyell Malen, and Santiago Castro, a midfield rotation of Manu Kone and Bryan Cristante, a backline of Wesley, Angelino, Mario Hermoso, Evan Ndicka, and Konstantinos Koulierakis, and Mile Svilar between the sticks, AS Roma are a force to be reckoned with.
