Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Fulham
Marco Silva’s Fulham aim to get its top seven push back on track, on Tuesday, when the Cottagers visit Wolverhampton Wanderers, in a match with huge implications for both clubs.
Fulham fell to an unexpected 2-0 defeat at home to Crystal Palace on Saturday, a result which left the West Londoners in tenth place and three points behind seventh placed Aston Villa. After a strong run of results that was a setback for Silva’s men and they have a good chance to get back in the saddle and on track when Premier League: Wolves vs Fulham kicks off at Molineux.
Vitor Pereira was appointed Wolves manager back in December following the sacking of Gary O’Neil, with the task of keeping the club in the top flight and he’s had a good weekend, coming into this game on the back of an impressive 1-0 win away to high flying Bournemouth. And this mix makes Wolves against Fulham a highly watchable big stakes match between two teams in pretty good shape.
Talking Points
Wolves have breathing space
Bournemouth were eyeing a top four spot when Wolves visited the south coast on Saturday but Pereira’s team executed a classic smash and grab and came away with all three points thanks to Matheus Cunha’s first half goal. Pereira’s team had some help from VAR which awarded Bournemouth’s Illia Zabarnyi a straight red card, five minutes before Cunha struck. It was the Brazilian’s 13th goal of the campaign and, if he carries on in this vein, Wolves will survive.

The bottom three teams all lost at the weekend, each shipping four goals and it’s starting to look like all three will make a swift return to the Championship, with only Wolves in their sights. The win over the Cherries gave the All Golds a five point cushion over the relegation zone and while there is still plenty of work to do their destiny is certainly in their own hands. The latest Premier League betting odds on a Wolves relegation have lengthened to around 10.00 so things are certainly looking up.
Midfielder Rayan Ait Nouri is another key man; he has made five assists so far and he was instrumental in Wolves’ win over the Cherries as he was on the end of the studs up challenge from defender Zabarnyi, while the experience of defender Matt Doherty was essential as Wolves hung on for a vital win.
Fulham’s Euro dream is still alive
The Cottagers really expected a handy double over Crystal Palace on Saturday but it all went horribly wrong for Fulham as former Eagles defender Joachim Anderson helped his old mates with a first half own goal and Daniel Munoz won the game with a stunning strike midway through the second half. With nine goal Raul Jimenez leading the line Fulham were strangely toothless and, despite having over 60 per cent possession they didn’t register a single shot on target. Silva threw on Rodrigo Muniz with ten minutes to go but without any impact and he will be looking for more bite from his front men when they meet Wolves. Fulham are missing the injured winger Harry Wilson but captain Antonee Robinson has made 10 assists from a wingback position and summer signing Emile Smith-Rowe, alongside Alex Iwobi and Adama Traore have plenty of pace and creativity.
Fulham had three 2-1 wins before the visit of the Eagles, beating high flying Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United in the league, and Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup, and they will be back on the front foot for their trip to the Midlands.
History
The West Midlanders have enjoyed the better of the head to head Wolves vs Fulham results in the 21st century, with 16 victories to six and the Cottagers have failed to win at Molineux in their last eight visits.
In terms of recent form both teams have been picking up wins, Fulham bagging four victories in their last six games while Wolves have won three. And the Cottagers will be keen to exact some revenge after Wolves plundered a 4-1 win at Craven Cottage back in November as Cunha helped himself to a brace.
Betting Tip
The Wolves vs Fulham betting odds point to a fascinating clash with the visitors the marginal favourites at 2.35, while Wolves can be backed at 2.60 and the draw is at 3.10.
A match with 2-3 goals is at a SBOTOP price of 1.94 and a 1-1 draw is the most likely score line, so that’s where I am.
