After spending several months on the sidelines due to a calf injury, Jonathan Burkardt finally made his awaited return in Eintracht Frankfurt’s 3-2 loss against Bayern Munich, and the German striker provided a spark off the bench.
Burkardt replaced Mahmoud Dahoud in the hour mark and calmly converted a penalty 17 minutes later for his ninth league goal of the season. Despite being out for a while, the 25-year-old is still among the frontrunners for the Bundesliga Golden Boot, as he’s four goals adrift of second-placers Deniz Undav and Luis Diaz.
