NBA: Thunder and Spurs Continue to Go Back and Forth in the West

The Thunder and Spurs are one step closer to clinching their playoff berths, as they’re the first two NBA teams to reach 50 wins this season, with the former enjoying an eight-game winning streak and the latter winning back-to-back games. These two powerhouses will be busy tomorrow, as they’re keen to extend their unbeaten runs.

Oklahoma City will face Orlando, winners of seven of their last eight, while San Antonio take on Sacramento, bottom feeders of the Western Conference standings at 18-51. According to the NBA 2026 odds, the Thunder and Spurs should see their games through because of their superior quality.

Meanwhile, the Hornets, Wizards, Knicks, Bucks, Timberwolves, and Nuggets will host the Heat, Pistons, Pacers, Cavaliers, Suns, and Sixers to round out the eight-game schedule. Without further ado, continue reading below, as SBOTOP discusses the Top 3 games in detail on today’s match preview.

Oklahoma City Thunder @ Orlando Magic

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander barely kept his 20-point streak alive during the Thunder’s 116-103 win over the Timberwolves on Sunday night. The reigning MVP only went 7-for-22 from the field, but notched 20 points, three rebounds, 10 assists, and two steals in 33 minutes. Chet Holmgren was Oklahoma City’s leading scorer at 21 points, while Isaiah Joe, Alex Caruso, Jared McCain, and Ajay Mitchell contributed 20, 17, 15, and 11 points.

What gave the Thunder the win was their defence, as they forced 22 turnovers while only having seven. Their defence is poised to wreak havoc versus the Magic, whom they conceded 92 points in their first meeting last February.

The Magic were on a seven-game losing streak before losing 124-112 to the high-flying Hawks last Monday. Paolo Banchero and Desmond Bane had 18 points apiece, while Wendell Carter Jr., Jevon Carter, and Jett Howard added 17, 13, and 10 points in the losing effort. Orlando notably conceded 41 points (career-high) to Nickeil Alexander-Walker, who happens to be the cousin of Shai.

Franz Wagner (ankle) and Anthony Black (abdomen) remain long-term absentees for the Magic. Meanwhile, the Thunder were boosted by the return of Isaiah Hartenstein (calf), but are still without Jalen Wiliams (hamstring).

Indiana Pacers @ New York Knicks

Basketball fans will be treated to an Eastern Conference classic, as the Knicks host the Pacers at Madison Square Garden tomorrow, though these two teams have gone in different directions this season.

The Knicks are on a three-game winning streak and are playing cat and mouse with the Celtics for the Eastern Conference’s second seed. The Mike Brown-coached squad is coming off a spirited 110-107 win over the undermanned Warriors, where they rallied from a 21-point deficit.

Jalen Brunson spearheaded the comeback with 30 points, nine assists, and two steals on 9-for-20 shooting from the field and a perfect 10-for-10 shooting from the charity stripe in 36 minutes. Karl-Anthony Towns, OG Anunoby, Jordan Clarkson, and Landry Shamet added 17, 14, 14, and 10 points. According to the NBA 2026 updates, Brunson was added to the injury report, listed as questionable due to his ankle and neck injuries.

In contrast, the Pacers are already eliminated from playoff contention, as they’re at the bottom of the Eastern Conference. The Rick Carlisle-coached squad is on a 13-game losing streak, so they’re incentivised to tank for the rest of the season.

The Pacers lost 134-123 to the Bucks on Sunday night. Aaron Nesmith had 32 points (team-high) on 10-for-14 shooting from the field and 7-for-10 shooting from three-point range in 29 minutes. Jay Huff, Jarace Walker, Obi Toppin, and Ivica Zubac added 16, 14, 11, and 10 points. With Pascal Siakam (knee) doubtful to play, don’t be surprised if Indiana drop their 14th straight contest.

San Antonio Spurs @ Sacramento Kings

The Spurs are coming off a 119-115 road win against the Clippers on Monday to reach 50 wins this season. Stephon Castle led the team in scoring with 23 points, seven rebounds, and eight assists on 9-for-19 shooting from the field in 36 minutes. Victor Wembanyama had 21 points, 13 rebounds, and four blocks. Devin Vassell, De’Aaron Fox, and Carter Bryant added 20, 18, and 10 points. Because they’ll face the Kings, the Spurs can afford to give Luke Kornet (knee) and Dylan Harper (calf) the day off.

The Kings became the first Western Conference team to be eliminated from playoff contention, although they’re on a two-game winning streak. Sacramento are coming off a 116-111 win over the Jazz last Sunday, as DeMar DeRozan scored a season-high 41 points and had 11 assists and three steals on 11-for-21 shooting from the field and 18-for-21 shooting from the charity stripe in 38 minutes.
