NBA: The Battle of the Boroughs May Be One-Sided

The Knicks are generally doing well this 2024-25 NBA season, but, of course, they can always do better. They have a 28-16 record, good for third in the Eastern Conference. However, they have yet to find their consistency this calendar year.

New York are 4-6 in their last 10 games, alternating wins and losses in their last seven. The Tom Thibodeau-coached squad will attempt to regain their mojo when they visit the Nets tomorrow at Barclays Center in the Battle of the Boroughs.

Meanwhile, the Blazers, Magic, Sixers, and Wizards will visit the Heat, Raptors, Nuggets, and Lakers. Despite the lean five-game schedule, SBOTOP basketball fans will continue to get their usual dose of NBA 2025 highlights.

Without further ado, continue reading below for the previews of the top three games in the Association tomorrow.

New York Knicks @ Brooklyn Nets

The Knicks and the Nets will meet for the third time this season. New York are unsurprisingly favoured by the NBA 2025 odds to win because they prevailed in their first two meetings.

The Knicks are coming off a 119-110 win over the Atlanta Hawks last Monday. Just like in the past five games, Jalen Brunson led the team in scoring, notching 34 points, six assists, and three three-pointers on 12-for-18 shooting from the field and 7-for-11 from the charity stripe. Mikal Bridges also lit up Atlanta by scoring 26 points on 12-for-17 shooting from the field.

The Nets stumbled to a 14-29 record, good for 12th in the Eastern Conference, because they’re on a three-game losing streak. They suffered blowout defeats against the Clippers and the Thunder, and they couldn’t pull out a win over the Lakers last Friday.

In their 127-101 loss against Oklahoma City, only three players notched double-digit points for Brooklyn. Cameron Johnson and Tyrese Martin had 15 points apiece, and Nic Claxton added 11 points and five rebounds on 5-for-7 shooting.

Point guard Ben Simmons didn’t play due to an illness, but he will likely return tomorrow. The Australian international is averaging 6.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 7.1 assists per contest on 55.5-per cent shooting this season.

Betting tip – New York Knicks Asian Handicap -10.50 @ 1.83

Philadelphia Sixers @ Denver Nuggets

How will Nikola Jokic perform as the Denver Nuggets face the Philadelphia Sixers next in the NBA?

Tomorrow’s meeting between the Sixers and Nuggets should be a battle between two league MVPs, but one of them is missing. 2022-23 NBA MVP Joel Embiid will miss his ninth consecutive game due to a knee injury. It’s no coincidence that Philadelphia have lost six straight matches with Embiid on the sidelines.

The Sixers suffered a 123-109 loss against the Bucks last Sunday. Tyrese Maxey did all he could by dropping 37 points, six rebounds, seven assists, and six three-pointers on 14-for-28 shooting, but it wasn’t enough. Kelly Oubre Jr., Ricky Council IV, Adem Bona, and Eric Gordon added 19, 13, 10, and 10 points, respectively. Philadelphia hope that co-star Paul George will return to the lineup tomorrow, as he has missed three of their last four games due to a groin injury.

The Nuggets have won seven of their last eight, including back-to-back double-digit victories against the Heat (133-113) and the Magic (113-100).

Against Orlando last Sunday, Nikola Jokic notched his 18th triple-double of the 2024-25 campaign with 20 points, 14 rebounds, and 10 assists. The Serbian international also tallied three steals and three blocks. Christian Braun registered 20 points and 11 rebounds. Jamal Murray, Michael Porter Jr., and Russell Westbrook added 19, 15, and 12 points, respectively.

Betting tip – Denver Nuggets Asian Handicap -12.50 @ 1.85

Washington Wizards @ Los Angeles Lakers

The Lakers have been quite inconsistent this season, and they’re hoping that a game against the lowly Wizards will cure their ills. The Purple and Gold are coming off a 116-102 defeat against their city rivals, the Clippers, last Sunday.

LeBron James put up 25 points, five rebounds, 11 assists, and three steals on 9-for-20 shooting from the field in the losing effort. This was his 18th double-double of the season and 591st in his decorated career. Anthony Davis is dealing with a foot injury, and if he can’t go tomorrow, then James should continue to shoulder the heavy load.

The Wizards are the worst team in the NBA because they are the only team that has yet to reach double-digit wins (6-35).

Jonas Valanciunas was the brightest spot for the Wizards in their 123-100 loss against the Kings last Sunday. The Lithuanian center recorded 23 points, 12 rebounds, and three assists on 9-for-11 shooting from the field off the bench.

Betting tip – Los Angeles Lakers Asian Handicap -13.00 @ 1.92
