After another sensational weekend of Premier League football Arsenal stayed five points clear at the top of the table when they matched Manchester City by picking up three points.
Pep Guardiola’s Sky Blues avoided a potential banana skin in Leeds on Saturday and, in so doing, kept the pressure up on leaders Arsenal, thanks to a goal from Antoine Semenyo on the stroke of half time. The January recruit has been superb since his transfer from Bournemouth and has joined an attacking unit which could fire City to the title.
Both the Gunners and City are chasing a quadruple so it’s going to get pretty interesting over the next few weeks.
Arsenal’s Sunday afternoon meeting with Chelsea promised to be a SBOTOP special as it meant a whole lot to the Premier League fans here, some of us willing the Gunners to finally win the title race…but not all of us. Anyhow, those of us sympathetic to Mikel Arteta’s plight would have been impressed that Arsenal scored yet two more goals from corners. The first was nodded in by the ever dangerous William Saliba, but then Chelsea scored their own when Piero Hincapie glanced into his own net from a Blues corner.
Chelsea were well in this game until it turned against them midway through the second half. Another corner, another goal as Jurrien Timber headed in past a flapping Robert Sanchez and then Chelsea copped yet another red card when Pedro Neto hacked down Gabriel Martinelli.
The Gunners last won the Premier League in 2004 and the latest Premier League 2026 betting odds say this could be their year, but they haven’t yet shaken off the Sky Blues.
United go third as Spurs fall at the Cottage

The Michael Carrick effect is still working well at Old Trafford, where Manchester United climbed to third place in the league thanks to a 2-1 win over Crystal Palace. But they had to come from behind against the ten man Eagles who had Maxence Lacroix sent off after he had given Palace a lead. The French defender was adjudged to have pulled back Matheus Cunha, denying a goal scoring opportunity and after he had been dismissed Bruno Fernandes levelled from the spot. And it was that man Benjamin Sesko who scored the winner with his fourth goal in five games, heading in from a Fernandes cross as the Red Devils climbed to third for the first time since May 2023.
Fulham greeted a Tottenham team in some disarray after a run of three consecutive league losses and it became four for the Spurs as Igor Tudor lost his second game in charge. First half goals from Harry Wilson and Alex Iwobi put the Cottagers in charge and though Richarlison pulled one back, Tottenham are now without a win in ten top flight games.
Spurs are 16th and just four points above the drop zone while the Cottagers jumped up to ninth after back to back wins.
Double Gomes delight for Wolves
In other Premier League 2026 news, bottom club Wolverhampton Wanderers stunned high flying Aston Villa on Friday night with a 2-0 win which meant the Villans dropped below Manchester United and down to fourth. On a wet night in the Midlands Joao Gomes gave Wolves a lead with a superb finish and Rodrygo Gomes doubled the lead in injury time. Wolves’ boss Rob Edwards was delighted, saying: “It was a special night in a really difficult season. It’s nice to be able to show some emotion and build that connection which we’re desperate to do. That’s a moment that will live with me forever.”
Not only did Wolves win a huge West Midlands derby they also exceeded Derby’s record for the all time lowest points tally in the Premier League, set in 2008; and with ten games to go the All Golds will fancy their chances of picking up some more wins. Wolves are as good as relegated and can play without fear…and that makes them a more dangerous opponent.
One team they may have in their sights in 18th placed West Ham United who went down to a 5-2 thrashing at the hands of Liverpool. The Reds were brutal in the first half as they scored three set piece goals, headed in by Hugo Ekitike, Virgi Van Dijk and Alexis MacAllister.
Tomas Soucek made it 3-1 at the start of the second half before Cody Gakpo restored Liverpool’s four goal lead; Taty Castellanos made it 4-2 and then an own goal from Axel Disasi rounded off the scoring. Three wins on the bounce have kept Liverpool in top four contention.
